BAM has secured a $29.37m (£24m) for the redevelopment of Fred Longworth High School in Tyldesley, Wigan, Greater Manchester.
The company secured the contract through the Department for Education’s high value framework.
Work on the project involves the construction of a three-storey teaching block, which will be net-zero carbon in operation.
The teaching block is planned to be handed over in September next year.
BAM is responsible for architecture, mechanical and electrical services, sustainability, fixtures, and fittings. Hydrock is providing fire and acoustics while Nexus is delivering ICT, and Dally Henderson is handling landscaping for the project.
The second phase of the project involves the demolition of most of the existing school and the construction of new sports pitches. It is scheduled to be ready for 2024.

By GlobalDataBAM stated that the redevelopment project is expected to increase the capacity of the school to 1,350 students, from 1,275 students.
BAM Construction North West regional director Ian Fleming said: “We have a very strong track record in the education sector across the UK, and here in the North West, where we have delivered education facilities serving some 7,000 students over the past five years alone.
“Our ability to create net-zero schools and use modern techniques such as our suite of digital construction methods and off-site manufacture and assembly allows us to reduce risks to our people and speed up delivery for the school.”
In part, the Fred Longworth High School will be built over Hindsford Brook culvert.
Enabling works on the project include diverting a main sewer running across the site.
