SRV has been awarded a significant contract by the City of Helsinki to construct a comprehensive service block in Kruunuvuorenranta, with a total value of approximately 鈧�60m ($63.28m).
This project is claimed to underscore SRV’s leadership in collaborative contracting and will be progressively entered into the company’s order backlog.
The City of Helsinki selected SRV for the project management contract in March 2024.
However, the commencement of the building was postponed from the initial schedule due to an appeal regarding street construction and the discovery of a small stream nearby.
The revised timeline indicates that construction will begin in early 2025, with the completion of the new school and daycare centre expected by mid-2027.
The service block is designed to be a hub for the community, providing facilities for primary and lower secondary schools teaching in both Finnish and Swedish, youth facilities, and support premises for a playground.

By GlobalDataIt will serve approximately 950 children, including 700 Finnish-speaking pupils from grades one to nine, 200 Swedish-speaking pupils from grades one to six, and 50 preschoolers.
The service block will cover a gross floor area of approximately 17,000m虏. The design will feature modular blocks, with additional informal plans for sports facilities and commercial services in the vicinity.
Sustainability is a cornerstone of the Kruunuvuorenranta service block construction, aligning with the City of Helsinki’s targets for ecologically sustainable construction.
The project will incorporate measures for waste sorting, recycling, and climate resilience. The building, expected to achieve an energy class A rating, will use geothermal energy for heating and cooling and will be equipped with a solar power system to contribute to its electricity supply.
The architectural design was selected through a competition held in 2020, with Huttunen-Lipasti Architects emerging as the winner.
